This song has been my jam of late and with good timing too, as this video was just released a few days back. If you’re not already familiar with Seattle’s Shabazz Palaces, then I welcome you to indulge in what might be some of the freshest vibes this side of 2010. Look for these guys in a city near you as they embark on a world tour this Spring. And look for Shabazz Palaces’ Ismael Butler at 2:55.

There really is no need for words in this space. The work of these dudes last year should more than speak for itself.  Delivering maniacal performances wherever they went and thrashing the shit out of records was regular business for Toronto’s Zeds Dead. Capping off a huge calendar year with their Graveyard Tour, the momentum continues with the boys new EP Adrenaline. The four track set doesn’t drop til January 23rd via Inspected Records but you can wet your appetite with the tune ‘In The Beginning’ below. Other goodies as well.

Zeds Dead – In The Beginning

Zeds Dead & The Killabits – Bassmentality

FKi ft. Iggy Azalea – I Think She Ready

I saw some glimpses of this potentially emerging trend last year and I’d have to say that I was really turned off. Attempts at slappin’ a rapper on top of some dubstep production just didn’t seem to work in my ears; a disaster in the worst sense. Then I come across the work of these dudes from Atlanta and I maybe, just maybe, there’s hope for the legion of adventurous hip dubbers (brutal, but that’s what I’m gonna go with for now). With their Transformers N The Hood mixtape on the horizon, FKi have let loose their latest ‘I Think She Ready’ for the masses. Known to label their tracks as ‘hip hop dubstep’, the group has taken a more conventional approach for this cut with Diplo and Heroes x Villains handling production duties. The song features Australian female MC Iggy Azalea, so all the more reason to click play below.

Utilizing a sample of Earth Wind & Fire’s 1981 single ‘Let’s Groove’, the disco house track is a surefire way to cook up some funkytown magic. Listen and Download below.
