THRASHING THURSDAYS – House Party Edition

Alright so I have a bit of a confession to make. Today I bought my first album in a long, long time. How long? Let’s put it this way, the last CD I purchased was Sum 41′s Does This Look Infected? For those of you that know the album (and it’s a beauty), that thing was released  during the awkward formative years of middle school…..well for me at least. I try to support the artists best I can by going to their shows and buying their merch, but that can only go so far. So I made a promise to myself to buy more albums. CDs? Fuck no, it’s time to invest and restock the old music library with some vinyl! Not only does vinyl sound awesome, it will make your place look distinguished. Now all you need is that smell of rich mahogany and a warm glass of brandy to complete the swag.

Anyways enough of that, the reason you’re reading this is obviously because you’re a fiend for the Thrashing Thursdays! I’ve noticed that all previous Thrashing Thursday posts have focused primarily on blast off dubstep bangers. So I woke up today and was like “yo let’s stretch our wings on this and try some different genres with equal Thrashibility”. And then I was like “what constitutes Thrashibility”? First thing that came to mind was what’s the one artist you would most like to have play at your house party? After purchasing my first album in years today, the answer became obvious.

Beastie Boys! Mike D, King Ad-Rock and MCA are back with a few friends and the fantastic new album Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2 (released May 3rd). The album has been repeatedly featured over Spacepack the past few weeks (here & here). The album was streamed a few weeks ago and it was so good that I felt obliged to buy it. The boys are back and they bring with them the same abrasiveness energy and utter disregard for silence that rocked house parties since 1980′s.

Don’t call it a come back, say welcome back! Here are a few tracks from their new album that are sure to blow the lid off any Popsicle stand,

Beastie Boys – Lee Majors Come Again (hear the songs by left clicking the download link, download by right-clicking)

Download (Love the false-start and record skip at 2:43)

Beastie Boys – Too Many Rappers f/ NaS [New Reactionaries Version]

Download (Great new version of an original song)

Beastie Boys – Don’t Play No Game f/ Santigold

Download (Carribean themed bash!)

And of course the Blast Off Banger,

Alex Metric – Sabotage (Beastie Boys Re-Edit)
