LAZY SUNDAYS – Al Green

People are born to do certain things, and Al was born to make us smile

Another Sunday rolls on and the need for some soothing tunes is needed now more than ever.

This Lazy Sunday’s post will be dedicated to one of the most gifted purveyors of soul music, the Reverend Al Green. In my opinion, the Reverend has the most distinct, sensual and fluid vocals of anyone I’ve heard in this music business. He puts so much expression in every note he hits….and this guy can really hit some notes. This accompanied by the always apparent string and horn sections make every one of his songs funky and lushly romantic.

If you ever thought chivalry was dead, listen to what the Rev has to say. He spits game in the classiest way that no woman could turn down. Who knows, maybe your next pick up line could come from Al Green, the legend himself.

Al Green – Let’s Stay Together

So what’s the Reverend up to nowadays? Well he is still preaching at the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Memphis and has been doing so for the past 30+ years. He also released Lay It Down in 2008, his first top 10 album since 1973. It was produced by ?uestlove of the Roots and James Poyser and features appearances from John Legend, Anthony Hamilton and Corinne Bailey Rae.

The man, the legend, the Reverend, still staying relevant and active in today’s music scene. Cheers! To Lazy Sunday
